The main focus this week has been the three light German armoured cars – the 3 Serie Sd.Kfz.223, 4 Serie Sd.Kfz.222 and the 5 Serie Sd.Kfz.261.
Throttle pedals for the Sd.Kfz.261 have been started. The chassis for this vehicle has been brought into the assembly workshop. On the 3 Serie Sd.Kfz.223 we have finally resolved the semaphore issue with the last two being secured for this early armoured car. We will post a detailed article on these very rare items in our online magazine Inside Track shortly.
The Aufbau armoured body for the Sd.Kfz.222 is being assembled with a few snags. We hope to have some developments on this front to show you in a while.
We continue to upgrade the facilities here in our workshops with the ultimate goal of being largely self sufficient. This is a slow process but we are being offered an increasing amount of good kit from shutdowns in businesses. One particular takeaway here is where key individuals nearing retirement age are closing up shop early. We have dealt with a number of firms who have been shut down due to this development. Sad but the struggle of rebuilding their businesses over time in a more difficult business environment is too tough a prospect.
