The chassis for the 3 Serie Sd.Kfz.223 had the remaining 4mm lubrication lines fitted. We are still awaiting some 4mm olives to complete the end fittings for the wheel stations. The remaining 8mm pipe work can only be completed once the hull is fitted and the pump is fitted alongside the driver (on the left). This will be one of the final tasks in this project as we have much work to do in the interior and exterior of the hull prior to fitting it to the chassis.
The 4 Serie Sd.Kfz.222 conservation work is progressing well. For detail on this please see this week’s Inside Track Piece for detail. We have successfully sourced the rubber grommets for the lubrication lines for all 3 le.Pz.Sp.Wg projects. The exact diameter piping to replace the original Willy Vogel lubrication lines to the back plates from the chassis have been located after days of searching internationally. This will be written up in due course in Inside Track when the task is complete and the images are all in hand.
Drawings for the air filter for the Ausf. A armoured cars have now been completed. The details for the taps fitted within all of the armoured cars at specific points have been completed. The drawings centre around the tap handles which are specific to the armoured cars. This will be covered in detail in an Inside Track piece shortly. The replacement filter cartridges were located a while back and were delivered this week. The fuel and radiator filler necks are in our sights after one of our contractors fell over. These were originally rolled. We are exploring the possibilities of sourcing a firm who can provide the same end result.
Have a safe weekend!
