Huge progress this week. The wheels for all of the armoured car projects – the Sd.Kfz 222 4 Serie, the 3 Serie Sd.Kfz 223, the 5 Serie Sd.Kfz 261 are all being stripped. Tyres from rims. The correct good condition original tyres will then be fitted to the correct rims for each armoured car after the rims have been blasted and primed with the exception of the 4 Serie Sd.Kfz.222. The hinges are now ready for collection for the 3 Serie Sd.Kfz.223. These require a modification. Follow the detail for this in our Inside Track piece this week. More Mahle fuel taps have arrived this week providing us with more than enough to pick and choose from to create 7 perfect examples for the armoured cars.
The rims for the Sd.Kfz.223 3 Serie which require immediate blasting and priming will be taken to the blasters today.
The new giant lathe has now been fully set up. The electrics have been fitted, the covers reinstalled and the first brake drum for the 3 Serie Sd.Kfz.223 will take the inaugural session on the lathe. This will then be fitted to the Fahrgestell chassis and the rims once blasted, primed with new tyres fitted will be bolted to the chassis.
The new roller shutter doors are now fitted to the new display hall. The Renault FT and TSF will be moved from the existing parking area to this hall once we have moved everything currently stored in the new hall.
