We located yet another one shot lubrication pump from the stores. This is the last pump required for the 3 armoured cars we working on – Sd.Kfz 222 4 Serie, Sd.Kfz 223 3 Serie, Sd.Kfz 261 5 Serie. Return calls made on the machining of the angled steering mechanism, the remaining enclosed wheel nuts for the 5 Serie Sd.Kfz 261. We will be collecting these and the completed hinges on Monday. We cleared a large space for the large new lathe which is due to arrive in a few weeks. The new roller shutter doors for the recently renovated and cladded display hall have been booked to be installed in 2 weeks time.
Collection of 4 different variants of Horch V8 sumps of which one will be copied for our 3.5 litre V8 split head engine project. Fan was disassembled and armoured exhaust cowling specific to the 3 Serie Sd.Kfz 223 and different to the 4 Serie and 5 Serie range.
A visit to the long term stores was made. All rubbish and modern parts were removed and loaded up for scrap. Space has been opened up for storage of other vehicle restoration projects which will clean up the environment here no end. We have identified a number of items which will be put up for sale – a large segment of a Panther turret roof, a turret bin fitted to a turret of a Pz III or IV, 2 large ammunition (we think) limbers with numerous compartments internally, wheels wheels wheels. The boxes will be investigated and we will publish photos of them when research is complete.
Major breakthrough with the Sd.Kfz 222 in securing the antenna base for the turret. This will join the growing group of items to be incorporated into the turret when the restoration work commences on this item. Very exciting!!
A viscosity meter was secured in working and NOS condition in its original box. This is specified as part of the Sonderausrustung for the Winterbetrieb of VW166, the armoured cars and many others.
