The chassis suspension fitting gathered pace this week with the front two wheel stations almost completely in place. The rear two are being worked on now and a replacement part had to be removed from the stores to replace an item on the chassis that had originally been ‘bodged’ by the Germans during the original assembly process. All components have been pre painted prior to assembly and will be touched up again once fitted to deal with any scratches or scrapes that may occur during fitting.
The dashboard drawings and fittings for both the Sd.Kfz 223 and Sd.Kfz 222 are being drawn in CAD now. This will allow this to be put out to be made by our woodworking counterpart. Most of the instruments have been sourced already. This is being done now given that the trial fitting of the instruments needs to be done asap given the sizes of each opening for each individual instrument – they must be correct and fit!
Our research on the wheel nuts for the Ausf A series of German armoured cars – in particular the Sd.Kfz 222 and Sd.Kfz 223 is complete. We are now moving to complete the collection required for all of the wheels for both vehicles working from the number of correct wheel nuts we have already. The focus will also turn to the Ausf B Sd.Kfz 261 and the wheel nuts required for this. We have a number of alternatives in hand but need to check which are correct. An article will follow soon in Inside Track.
The request for prices have been sent out and some answers are now in hand on the sections required for the Jagdpanther. We should have these next week and will be able to order them straight away.
Have a great weekend!!
