This past week saw the recovery of the Wheatcroft Collection’s Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie German armoured car body. This Sdkfz 223 armoured car body was very badly damaged at the end of its operational life in WWII and required a great deal of attention to get the armoured panels straight and true.
Study of the evolution of paint treatment both internally and externally for these early German armoured cars of WWII le.Pz.Sp.Wg. also progressed this week. This will allow us to correctly detail the interior of TWC Sd.Kfz.223.
Another beautiful instrument panel has been crafted by one of the team. This wooden work of art will be fitted to this many times upgraded Sd.Kfz.223. Part 2 of a detailed coverage of the instrument panel is in this week’s Inside Track as is a detailed discussion on the Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie versus 5.Serie Grenade Net Abdeckgitter.
Next week will see attention shift to the shared components of both the Weald Foundation’s Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie and the TWC Sd.Kfz.223 such as the front axle armoured panel and supports, skinning the fenders (the frames are already in the bag), the rain deflection strips etc etc.
Have a good weekend.
