The jack brackets have been completed with the leather protective strips fitted inside. The very good condition original jack is now fitted to the new jack brackets. It looks great. The small removable cap above the radiator allowing access to the radiator cap is underway. All of the external lights work and the rest of the work should be completed next week. All that remains now is the wiring of the instrument panel. The headlamps work as well as with the dimmer switch / Abblendschalter (main image shown of the only survivor). The first hand grenade fuse carrier box is now in hand with 3 more to follow. These are small metal boxes fitted to the rear of the side crew cabin wall. The positions are different depending on the vehicle Sd.Kfz.222, Sd.Kfz.223 etc and Serie (1 through 5).
The 4.Serie specific gas mask holders are also underway.
The next set of headlamps has been completed including the bases but excluding the arms. These will have to be done for the Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie and the Sd.Kfz.223 of the TWC.
The radio straps are under focus currently. These are for the Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie and the TWC example and our Sd.Kfz.261 5.Serie. We have many of the fittings related to the straps – all of the end bits and buckles. All appear to have been dug up. Some have cleaned up very well and others less well. We are going through the boxes, removing the rust, blasting and painting them. The straps and fittings will then be reassembled using the correct belt material ready for our radio car projects.
