The plaques for the interior – primarily the instrument panel – are now being chemically etched to result in an authentic set for each of our le.Pz.Sp.Wg. We are a long way from requiring these for the Sd.Kfz.223 projects but they will be kept in readiness for these 2 armoured cars.
The sun compass arrived for those of you who follow our SARC (Marmon Herrington) Mk.III thread here. We will explore this next week and publish an article in Inside Track once we have assessed and photographed the object. Very good news.
The Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie and the Sd.Kfz.223 of the TWC are now both sporting the Halter fuer Antennasteckmast. The 4 masts which make up the antenna mast assembly have been trial fitted to the brackets. Perfect fit. The side hatches are being readied to be fitted to the engine compartment. One of them has a chunk taken from the corner. This is being resolved through letting in the same armour thickness and correct profile for the corner. The rear fenders for both armoured cars have been completed. The Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie of the Weald Foundation is very fortunate to have original fenders for the both the left and right rear. These have required serious panel beating but the end result is very pleasing and original!
The Australian LP1 carrier research continues. We have located an additional number of parts for the project which will be added to the growing pile of fittings for the restoration.
