The bases for the MG Pedestal Mounts copied from the original, are in hand. These will be put to one side pending the fitting of the floor. They will determine the height of the floor and it is vital they are sited correctly for us to be able to dimension and position the floor panels correctly. We learned the hard way with the Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie.
Collected the newly sandblasted fenders. The original examples fared quite well in the process. These will look very good once painted. A new panel was used to complete one of the original fender of ours and this has also blended in very well. There will be some repair work needed where the corrosion wore through in some areas on the original fenders.
The formed spark plug cap fittings for the suppression caps for the Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie have been pressed. We machined a special tool for this purpose. The springs required for the rest of this assembly have already been commissioned and will be made to the exact size required for the fitting of all 8 spark plugs and suppression caps for the Horch 3.5 liter V8.
The body to chassis mounting brackets have all been reconditioned and fabricated where required. These are now all fitted in both the TWC and the Foundation’s Sd.Kfz.223.
The special spare wheel mounting stud assembly for the right hand side of the Aufbau body are on their way. This is very different to the set up for the later Sd.Kfz.223 and 222 4.Serie. The research and findings are posted in this week’s Inside Track journal of the Weald Foundation. The other article covers the correct fitting of the tyre profile used in our Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie. This is in response to the many enquiries we have had to field regarding the tyres – are they fitted correctly and so on.
Have a good weekend from all of us here at the Foundation…..
