Most of the attention this week was on fitting the floor in the Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie. This was after the successful siting of the Sockelfundament MG34 Pedestal Base. The base of the firewall including the transmission trunking and floor surround for the Sockelfundament has been researched, fabricated and fitted – quite different to the Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie. The research for this area was complex given misleading historical archive data. How we established the correct path and the research involved will be published in Inside Track shortly. The steel material for the frame itself of the antenna frame assembly for the Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie is in hand. The fittings for the frame are being machined. These will fix to the 4 antenna mount supports mounted to the body.
The carburettors for Jagdpanther 411 have now emerged from a lengthy process. Comprehensive cleaning, parts replacement where required, settings, fuel pressure, levels and so on have all been checked and cross checked leading to small changes here and there. The smoke discharge has been resolved as has the fuel pressure resulting in a very smooth running Jagdpanther 411. A full report is being drafted on this to be released in Inside Track in a few weeks.
