The restoration of our Sd.Kfz.223 Ausf.A 3.Series continued this week, with additional work also carried out on the TWC Sd.Kfz.223.
Following last week’s preparations, several components have now been painted. The ‘Schutzschild’ and all its components were painted in ‘Dunkelgrau’ and the MG mount has seen remarkable progress. All its components are painted and fully assembled, it really showcases the skillfulness of our team.
We’ve also progressed on the chassis, due to the easier access, we’ve begun installing the electrical cabling. The dynamo has been fully restored, with rust removed and a protective coat applied to prevent rusting again. Meanwhile, our Sd.Kfz.261 restoration project has also made progress, with additional machining work on the suspension wishbones.
This week we also hosted another ‘Military Heritage – Sustainable Skills for Life’ event, where participants had the chance to learn about one of our upcoming restoration projects, the New Zealand Indian Pattern Carrier. Additionally, attendees enjoyed a guided tour of our entire collection and the opportunity to climb inside the Sd.Kfz.251. An experience always enjoyed especially by the younger attendants. These events are made possible with the Heritage Fund and Community Fund and are a vital part of our work as a Charity.
