The team managed a great deal this week in bringing the armoured body panels up into the Fabrication Hall and making good progress on repairing the rear half of the body of the Sd.Kfz.261 5.Serie. The body panels are all in front of them making this a project of repair, straighten and weld. Some of the panels already attended to were in very poor shape yet have come through to the other side well.
The side project of completing the remote engine hatch open devices had small progress this week. They will be attended to at some point next week once some of the components are back from our counterparts.
Apologies for the lack of social media posts this week. A very successful trip to Europe has resulted in some critical decisions to be made. More to follow on this topic. Please bear with us – the end result will be great. An important 8 wheeler engine hatch was recovered and a very rare radio plug used while the station was not in use. This is our first example of such a device and will require some serious searching to locate the others required.
