Successful Heritage Fund visit, Sd.Kfz.261 suspension progresses

On the machining front our team are busy with the required parts for the suspension assemblies of the Sd.Kfz.261 5.Serie. This work is continuing at pace. We now have the shock absorber retainers nearly complete. The spring retainers required have also progressed thanks to the CNC milling machine being used since Tuesday.

For our fabrication team the extensive repairs to all of the individual original panels making up the body of the Sd.Kfz.261 5.Serie is complete. The rear of the vehicle is now complete and the front awaits the seam welding to replace the tack welds. The tack welds were used to retain the shape and position of the panels as they were fitted together. The visor section will be completed next week and inserted into the body. Thereafter the cabin roof area will be the focus.

The painting of the Sd.Kfz.223 of the TWC is underway. This vehicle had a long operational life which ended in late 1943 / early 1944. The paint treatment of the vehicle will be provided accordingly. We have been aided by the significant cover of surviving paint on the vehicle. This was studied extensively prior to the vehicle being structurally repaired given that it had been knocked out at the end.

Have a good weekend
