Sd.Kfz 222 4.Serie, Sd.Kfz 223 3.Serie, Sd.Kfz. 223 4.Serie

The mapping of the interior of the Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie took a giant leap forward this week leading to a possible leap frogging of the project to replace the Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie in the restoration queue. That idea was rapidly quashed and status quo returned. The carburettor inlet manifold continues to be the focus of our CAD specialist. This has taken longer than expected but accuracy is paramount.

The conservation effort for the Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie continues. The exterior chassis frame is now complete. The rear large Querlenker wishbone is nearly dealt with leaving 2 others to complete. The next and last items to be attended to are the wheel hubs (back plates) etc which will take a long time given the rough casting of the hubs. The estimated end date for this work has slipped to the middle of June unless the team is added to.

The paint analysis for our Horch cylinder heads has been completed using specialised paint spectrometry thereby allowing us to complete the paintwork on the Horch 3.5 litre V8. The paint result will be as it is is today rather than when it rolled off the assembly line – to ensure a good match with the existing paint treatment.

Parts for our future Sd.Kfz.250 projects (Ausf.A and Ausf.B) and Einheitsdiesel continue to arrive. We are fortunate to have time in hand for these to ensure that we only secure correct and good quality items.
