The Weald Foundation is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a £117,887 grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. This generous grant will be instrumental in funding our upcoming two-year project centred around Military Heritage. The project is scheduled to commence in April 2023 and conclude in March 2025.
Military Heritage – Sustainable Skills for Life
The project’s core aims and objectives are:
- Conducting specialized learning programmes on Military Heritage that revolve around the restoration of First and Second World War Tanks, machinery, and equipment. These programmes will be available in group settings at nine interactive Experiential Learning and Socialisation events.
- Setting up six physical and digital interpretation boards to help people comprehend the history of particular military vehicles.
- Producing six instructional learning videos that detail the restoration process of specific vehicles. These will be accessible online through QR codes or web links.
- Developing six detailed instructional lesson plans centred on the restoration process of specific vehicles. These plans will be valuable resources for individuals, educators, youth and community workers.
- Creating an instructional learning video available online, showing how to research and interpret original documents connected to First and Second World War military vehicles.
- Offering leadership and life skills support, motivating participants to explore various educational and professional opportunities through an understanding of heritage vehicles and equipment.
“The Weald Foundation, globally renowned for its exceptional work in restoring and preserving World War I and II military vehicles and equipment, is dedicated to delivering high-quality educational experiences to our community. I will be working meticulously alongside our Trustees and influential community leaders to engage and motivate as many people as possible. Our goal is to foster an appreciation and understanding of Military Heritage through this exhilarating initiative.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Heritage Lottery Fund. Their generous funding and trust have granted us the opportunity to promote participation in a series of learning and socialization events. These will be hosted at our workshops in Yalding, Kent, over the forthcoming two years.”
