The Sd.Kfz.223 project is taking shape day by day, and while last week we were preparing for sandblasting and priming, this week we have moved that forward.
Almost all external components of the Sd.Kfz.223 have been sandblasted and primed this week, this includes both front and rear fenders as well as all storage boxes. The brackets designed to hold the lower front armoured plate, which protects the vehicle suspension, have been fabricated, sandblasted and primed.
Some final touches are needed on the front body, but we expect to send it for sandblasting and priming, together with the previously mentioned plate and both doors by the end of next week. The rear body will also be ready for us to collect by then.
This week, we completed various internal parts, with the plate visors nearly complete now. All the components and glass were put together and we are just awaiting material to place the brow pads. The firewall is now fully finished, with everything in place to have the other sections attached and the blind fitted once is it fabricated. All these parts have been primed and are awaiting assembly as we begin reassembling the vehicle. The radio operator footrest has also been manufactured, primed and placed.
The first plate visor windscreen for the Sd.Kfz.223 is now put together and looks remarkable, along with the glass and all other components. These parts differ significantly from those of the Sd.Kfz.222, and they are pending a final inspection and approval before they are fully completed.
Lastly, the ‘Schutzschild‘ grenade mesh has also been sandblasted and primed, and the visors are now complete with the armoured glass installed.
We anticipate continuing our momentum into next week, so be sure to follow our Workshop posts and updates on our Social Media channels to stay informed about the latest developments.
