The Doppeltrommel saddle drum magazine holder for the Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie is almost complete. This will herald the path for another 3 of these for fitting to the interior of the armoured car. See the attached image of some of our DT34 and DT15 Doppeltrommel examples – some needing more attention than others. The first grenade rack is behind us as well. The interior paint for the vehicle has been ordered for the smaller parts away from the crew cabin. The different interior paint for the crew cabin area has been identified as well. Both will be written up in a forthcoming edition of Inside Track our online magazine. This week’s Inside Track features a write up on the external paint treatment for 1939 dated vehicles with clarification on the earlier schemes and colours. This research has been done specifically for our Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie
Special and rare components for the radio set up for our October 1939 Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie have been secured. The radio will need very careful conservation work, the other components are in fine order and will not require attention.
The Renault TSF steering clutches were relined and collected this week. These have been reassembled on to the gear box fitted into the engine bay together with the engine. Radiator and fuel tank are next. This has taken two of our team for the week thus far.
