The Sd.Kfz.261 suspension is quite different to that of the Ausf.A armoured cars. We are fortunate to have most of the components ready for use after some attention. Others either missing or totally corroded have had to be machined from scratch or cast or printed. The focus has been on each of the suspension wishbone assemblies. We have resolved the missing spring rocker rubber inserts through our 3D printing counterparts. The proof example was perfect and now the rest are on their way. The restored gearbox is now fitted within the chassis with the majority of its original paint preserved.
We have pressed ahead with the machining of key components of the TWC Sd.Kfz.223 MG pedestal. The spraying of the interior of the Sd.Kfz.223 is also underway with the momentary good weather here in Kent. The light grey has been taken care of with the crew cabin early ivory next on the list.
We have announced our Autumn Open Day 2024 for November 23rd. Please refer to the events page for more information. This is open to members and their guests. If you are not a member and would like to participate simply sign up and become a member. We look forward to seeing everyone on the day.
This week saw the end of our research into the brake light required for the Sd.Kfz.261 5.Serie. The research and images are all provided in this week’s edition of our online journal Inside Track. The other article continues the series on the production of thin armour plate during the war by Germany in WWII. This week centres on the Sd.Kfz.250 Ausf.A and B.
Have a good weekend all.
