The machining work on the suspension assembly for the Sd.Kfz.261 5.Serie is drawing to a close with only a few small components now to be actioned. The parts that have been reconditioned and those newly made components are being slowly assembled (see lead image). Plans are afoot for fitting the Willy Vogel lubrication manifolds to the large lower suspension Querlenker wishbones. Alongside this the copper plated axle pins are now fully machined. These will be fitted to the wishbones once the missing locker tabs have been machined – we have 2 good originals and will need 6 more.
The TWC Sd.Kfz.223 MG pedestal mount components continue to be machined. When this is completed next week the process of assembly will begin. This is fairly straight forward given that we have already done the hard yards with our own MG pedestal for our Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie.
