The Horch 3.5 litre V8 engine is progressing. All of the valves, valve guides and springs are fitted. The new replacement baffle plates have been made and fitted to the sump (see lead image)
The 2 headlamps which are to be delivered to a friend in Europe have been assembled. This required fettling the exterior of the hand casted lenses to allow a snug fit to the reflectors. The wiring for the headlamps was fitted and the headlamps were tested – side light, low beam and high beam. Success. Clear to go.
The painstaking work to fit the loom is now complete. The final part was the linkage for the batteries and the fuses. The fuse work will be done once we have the front half of the Aufbau armoured superstructure in place on the chassis once more.
The work progresses on the machining of the Sd.Kfz.261 5.Serie Querlenker wishbones. This is to machine the castings to allow for the fitting of the axles for the Querlenker to be fitted to the chassis together with the smaller upper Querlenker wishbones.
