Cylinder head gaskets have not yet arrived. We are awaiting annealed copper gaskets for the Sd.Kfz.222 4 Serie 3.5 litre V8 engine. If these are successful then we will order the same or make adjustments and order examples for the Sd.Kfz.223 3 Serie and 4 Serie.
The starter motor recovery project continues for the Sd.Kfz.223 3 Serie. This is to provide the starter motor required for our Sd.Kfz.223. The results of our research in this very rare, long nosed starter motor specific to the Ausf.A armoured car range is covered in this week’s Inside Track (Main image showing both Anlasser now ready for the Sd.Kfz.223 3 Serie and Sd.Kfz.222 4 Serie ).
The missing drive shafts of the Sd.Kfz.223 4 Serie are being worked on. Once these are in place it will allow us to be able to fit the all of the wheels and will result in a mobile chassis.
The oil coolers are now complete. We are very happy with the end result. The fuel tanks for the Sd.Kfz.223 3 Serie and 4 Serie and the Sd.Kfz.222 4 Serie are to start being fabricated in a few weeks. We are awaiting the newly spun (accurate) filler necks and caps for these from our counterpart.
Conservation work continues every day on the Sd.Kfz.222 4 Serie chassis. The first 2 wheel stations including the chassis interior are complete. The 3 wheel station is due to be completed soon. Thereafter it will be the turn of the 4th wheel station and then the inside and outside of the chassis rail.
