The turret or Schutzschild for our Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie is finally coming together. Crafting in the missing original armour sections to our original turret panels is proving to be quite an art. We will write our findings and process up in Inside Track in due course. Original handles have been located for the interior just forward of the entrance doors left and right. These are being cleaned up and will be fitted soon. The fender are being bead blasted and primed to be collected next week.
The turret ring is now being machined to accommodate additional fittings. It was driven up today for this work to be done.
The instrument panel project is now awaiting the final wood varieties before it can be machined one last time. All of the testing and trial fitting is now complete. This will be fitted in the Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie and the Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie upgrade.
Original main brake cylinders have been extracted from our stores pending a review as to whether they can be used in the Sd.Kfz.250 projects which are a way off. These will be checked for cracks and pores in the casting which will then require light machining prior to reassembly
