The reassembly of the armoured body for the 4 Serie Sd.Kfz 222 began this week. Those of our team who are able to work from home are involved in a range of activities. The conservation of the 4 Serie Sd.Kfz 222 gearbox and remaining steering linkages for the vehicle are continuing without delay. The wheel nuts for the Sd.Kfz 222 and Sd.Kfz 223 are being machined. The later 5 Serie Sd.Kfz 261 wheel nuts are also under way. We have managed to gather as many originals and will continue to do so. The new examples will be unmistakable from the originals and will be replaced in the event that further of these extremely rare replacements are found.
The batteries for all the armoured cars currently in focus – the Sd.Kfz 222, Sd.Kfz 223 and Sd.Kfz 261 have been researched and the findings published in this weeks edition of Inside Track. The batteries will be sourced as soon as the current health crisis has moved on.
The brake drums for the Sd.Kfz 223 are underway. One has been machined for approval and the others will follow once the first one has been proof fitted.
The angled steering box for the Sd.Kfz 223 has been cast using the Sd.Kfz 222 original example (pictured) and is awaiting machining in the next week.
The missing steering wheel for the Sd.Kfz 261 has been sourced. All 3 armoured cars now have the correct steering wheels.
Keep well and safe everybody.
