Our team have been machining the castings for the cooling fan stands with fittings for the 2 le.Pz.Sp.Wg. Sd.Kfz 223 3 Serie and SdKfz. 223 4 Serie. These are fortunately both the same so are all following the original assembly from our Sd.Kfz.222 4 Serie. This was absolutely complete so two extra authentic and accurate sets are almost there. Next stop will be the cooling fans themselves.
This weeks’ Inside Track is focussing once again on the evolution of the Notek convoy lamps with the focus on the rear light evolution. This is particularly handy for our preparation for the light fittings for our 3 armoured cars. Getting these fittings absolutely correct for the date of their assembly is vital in this regard.
The conservation work on the Sd.Kfz.222 4. Serie continues. The main image shows some original damage sustained to the chassis. It appears to be battle damage and is being investigated. The final wheel station is currently in focus. Once this is complete it will be the turn of the wheel hubs, back plates and the large wishbones. Our target date for completion of this painstaking process is the end of May. We will then be able to assemble the chassis once again….
The gearbox for the Sd.Kfz.222 4 Serie is awaiting the new replacement worm and wheel gears. They are underway at our gear counterpart firm.
Have a good weekend everybody!!
