The wait for the bearings for the 4 Serie Sd.Kfz.223 chassis has now ended. The final bearings arrived today for the gearbox. The differential bearings are also now in hand. The gearbox and differential will be started next week. While we have been waiting for the bearings we have now completed the work on the 4th wheel station. This can be reassembled once the king pin has been completed. We should receive this newly machined component next week. Other components which are also missing have finally been sourced and will arrive in a few weeks.
The hiatus in the 4 Serie Sd.Kfz.223 has provided us with a wonderful opportunity to progress the armoured hull for the Sd.Kfz.222. We are almost at the point of completing the rear half of the body Aufbau which will once again be put to one side while the work resumes on the 4 Serie Sd.Kfz.223. Sections from 3 different armoured car bodies have been used to make up this very rare 4 Serie Aufbau rear superstructure.
The paint for the Marmon Herrington Mk III is being analysed next week as are the fenders and fuel tanks for the New Zealand Pattern Carrier. A rim is also being analysed by our paint conservation partners at Lincoln Conservation. These paint analyses will allow us to progress on these very interesting projects in the secure knowledge that our paint questions have all been resolved.
