Our fabrication workshop team continued to focus in on the Sd.Kfz.222 4 Serie hull. The roof panel sections were the focus of the earlier part of the week and gathering all the required visors for the armoured car came next. The left and right handed visors plus the two forward visors were identified and are now being stripped down and all the component parts are being cleaned and repaired. These will be blasted and painted next week once all of them are in hand. The Sd.Kfz.261 5 Serie visors and accessories examples will be done simultaneously.
We have also done an inventory of what visors and related parts are required for the two Sd.Kfz.250 Ausf.A and B given that the visors are from the same family. All parts secured from here on will be geared towards an exact shortlist which will ensure that we do not make any redundant purchases in future.
The oil cooler for the Sd.Kfz.222 4 Serie, Sd.Kfz.223 4 Serie and Sd.Kfz.223 3 Serie is currently in focus with our CAD specialists. This will allow for the missing oil coolers to be made. We fortunately have all the detail for the oil cooler and fittings.
The oil filler for the 3.5 litre Horch V8 engines are also being scoped. These are specific to the Ausf.A armoured car. More detail on all of the above will continue to be published in our online magazine Inside Track.
