We started work on the oil filters for the Sd.Kfz.222 and Sd.Kfz.223 this week. These will require a few more days until we are able to unveil the finished examples. We are currently also machining the ‘gun metal’ material castings for the coolant pipe fittings for the split cylinder heads for the Horch 3.5 litre V8 engines for our Sd.Kfz.222 and Sd.Kfz.223 Ausf.A. (see main image)
A number of acquisitions for the le.Pz.Sp.Wg. were successfully concluded this week. A set of early suppressed ignition coil leads for the Sd.Kfz.223 3 Serie arrived today together with various other engine fittings for the Sd.Kfz.223 3 Serie engine. The correct and final required foot dimmer switch was secured this week and is now on its way back to the Foundation. A number of other acquisitions were also made which will be announced in due course. The most important of which will be made on Monday. Watch this space.
The castings and patterns arrived this week for the fan and oil cooler fittings. We will be covering this little known area in Inside Track – our weekly online magazine – now that we have all of the components back here at the Foundation Workshops. Our research this week was on the remaining electrical fittings required for the Ausf.A armoured car interiors. Earlier research on the subject confirmed the foot dimmer switch mentioned above.
