The workshop was remarkably quiet this week with most of the team off on holiday. Research and parts gathering continued however. This activity never stops. We were very fortunate to secure the missing side engine hatch for our Sd.Kfz.261 5.Serie from an old friend of ours. This particular item when united with a full set of hinges from a badly damaged hatch will allow for this piece to be bolted in place thereby completing external requirements for the engine bay area.
We also secured another main engine hatch. This is also bent but hopefully not as badly bent as the other repaired example we have which had been blown up in an explosion at the end of its operational service life. Once this hatch is straightened (a hopefully straight forward task) the engine bay area will at last be externally complete for our Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie.
Our security continues to be enhanced with more motion lights being fitted in tandem with the cameras.
