Cleared the vehicles out of the new fabrication workshop. The roller shutter doors were fitted to the new display hall. Most of the equipment has been moved into the new fabrication workshop. The rest will be moved next week.
Drawing continues at a pace with the Sd.Kfz.223 and Sd.Kfz.222. The focus at present is on the unique air filter for the 3.5 litre V8 engine used by these armoured cars. The components and patterns we have are being used to ensure 3 authentic air filters will emerge for the projects. We have been mapping the interior of our 3 Serie. Sd.Kfz.223. This displays upgrades post leaving the assembly halls of Werk Horch A.G. This later work will have to be plotted against what was originally there at the time of leaving the assembly hall. We will then peel away any subsequent changes to leave those of 1939! The original 210×18 tyres of required for the 3 Serie Sd.Kfz.223 have been jet washed – see Facebook for the process. Most but not all the dirt and paint has been removed from the past 80 years – the rest can be removed once the wheel and rims are on the chassis.
The rims for the Sd.Kfz.222 have been separated. They have not been blasted and will instead be conserved by scraping away the upper layers to expose the Dunkelgrau paint applied during assembly.
The Renault FT and TSF have been driven out of their old home to the new display hall. The pictures we wanted to publish on to Facebook cannot be posted due to problems with Apple.
Clutter continues to be removed, placed in scrap bins, boxed books etc to make way for the new Fabrication Workshop space.
Have a great weekend. Keep safe.
