One part of the team was entirely dedicated to fabricating and trial fitting the Regenrinne rain guards on the Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie. Splash guards were also fitted at the same time. The plate visors are being machined to remove the previous very corroded riveted bolts to receive the newly machined examples. An attempt to straighten an original door for our Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie was abandoned until the item is annealed which will allow us to manipulate the door more easily.
External work was done to seal the base wall of the new exhibition hall against the steady rain we experienced last week. This was a successful exercise and should now result in a water tight outcome.
The turret for the Sd.Kfz.222 was the focus for the drawing and research team for the whole week. We have a significant section of the Ausf.A turret. It took us quite some time to realise this is different to the Ausf.B 5.Serie example. The findings of our research s will shortly be written up in a forthcoming Inside Track piece.
The last remaining cross member is being finalised for the Sd.Kfz.261 5.Serie. Details of this require changing. This will be fabricated and fitted once the drawings are complete.
Have a good weekend
