The focus this week was to continue to identify, refurbish and fit all required visor related components to the front left and right side of the Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie. This is primarily for the exterior of the crew cabin involving the Regenrinne rain gutters, visor stays, round splash protection and internally the handles for the visors. All of these details will be written up supported by detailed images and published in Inside Track in the coming weeks. This week’s article covers the extremely rare visor stays for the Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie.
Drawings for the interior fittings including the turret and their exact placement will start in earnest from now as much of the research into this is in hand thanks to a recent surge in information.
Another member of the team has continued to produce drawings for the Jagdpanther project. These are now in hand and this stage will be crowned with the commencement of castings.
The castings for the required Sd.Kfz.261 5.Serie wishbone suspension components will be ready for collection very soon. This will allow for the the chassis of this armoured car to take a large step forward. The missing springs are also being attended to and will be available in due course. The axles for each wishbone have also to be machined to original specification to which the specialist metal rubber bushes for the axles will be fitted to allow for the assembly of all the wheel stations.
