The chassis repair work for the Sd.Kfz. 223 A is progressing well. All of the cracks in the chassis and the spring retainers have been repaired as has the front of the chassis. We are still awaiting the arrival of the water jet cut plates for the reconstruction of the rear engine mount area of the chassis. That will be completed next week and the chassis will then be sent for dipping to clean it of rust and paint for the final time. The suspension components have been stripped, processed through the parts washer and have been sand blasted where appropriate. The larger items have been sent for sand blasting. These will be collected hopefully some time next week.
The largest side armour sheets have been sent for blasting. The other items have yet to be cleaned up but are being sorted out into various crates – the Sd.Kfz. 261, the Sd.Kfz. 222 and the focus of the moment – the Sd.Kfz. 223. The Sd.Kfz. 223 body components are being kept aside given the imminent state of their reassembly. The others will be returned to the stores now they have been sorted.
