The suspension assembly has started with the focus concentrating on one wheel station of the Sd.Kfz.223. All of the component parts have been painted using the paint analysis results from our paint conservationist partners at Lincoln Conservation. More paint has been ordered given that the chassis has been painted but there is a sizeable quantity of chassis fittings which still require attention. An image of the painted back plates off the wheel assemblies is provided. We will provide a piece in Inside Track on the paint finish of the chassis given its’ importance for all three of the armoured car projects.
Analysis and identification of the wheel hub nuts has concluded for the Sd.Kfz.222 with some questions outstanding for the Sd.Kfz.223 being from the earlier 3.Serie. We do not have the full complement of wheel nuts so will have to source the remaining items. Work has started on drawing the Schutzschild (turret). We have substantial parts of a Schutzschild having collected two major sections over time with the grenade nets. However, we are missing some of the panels. The wheel air valve protector and rims have also been researched and will result in another piece to be released shortly on our members online magazine Inside Track.
The Zündapp KS750 is running perfectly. All of the ancillary parts have now been refitted given that the carburettor and dynamo are perfect.
