The Brittany Sd.Kfz 223 Fahrgestell (chassis) has been totally stripped. The chassis is now receiving remedial attention. The chassis has had a lot of attention since the Second World War and this will have to be corrected. Damaged panels and sections are being cut out of the chassis side rails and cross members. All areas of the chassis that have original patina, including battle damage, are being carefully circumvented during this process. The damage is in the front chassis section, the rear and some of the side spring retainers will have to be v’d out and re welded where cracks are evident.
The Jagdpanther was taken out for the Iron Cross team who took a number of photographs. This will appear in the next edition due to be published this month. The right engine bank was smoking and will require the plugs to be removed and cleaned, the jets to be removed and cleaned to resolve the problem caused by too much idling for film crews.
The Renault FT was driven out for for the benefit of a team from Defence Procurement International, another organisation who spent many hours here at the Foundation.
