Monday was a large clean up operation with the food marquee, seating and tables being packed away. The workshops were reequipped with the hastily ‘tidied’ tools and kit used in the scramble to get the Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie presentable for the Open Day. The workshops and machine shops were readied for the start of the new project – the two Sd.Kfz.223.
The TWC Sd.Kfz.223 rear body section was carefully lifted and positioned on the jig in the Fabrication Centre. The significant damage sustained at the end of its operational life has now largely been taken care of. This rear Aufbau is now hardly recognisable from what it used to look like. Next week will herald the start of work on the front of the Aufbau (body).
The instrument panel / dashboard for this Sd.Kfz.223 has now been fully machined in readiness for the next phase of attention – painting. This Sd.Kfz.223 underwent a number of upgrades during its operational life and we will persevere in ensuring these modifications are consistent with the chronological timeline of this armoured car.
The additional work required for the Sd.Kfz.222 has been drawn up. This will only take place as the Sd.Kfz.223 project allows.
