It has been a very busy week in the Workshop with the Sd.Kfz.223 restoration, from painting to wiring and part fabricating.
The wiring of the chassis has started this week, with meters and meters of cabling being put in place before the body can be put back in place. The dynamo was tested in place after the mounting bracket was machined, together with the straps to hold it in place. This part is quite an intricate part, but luckily we have an original that we could copy, making the drawing and machining process easier.
Parts painting continued this week, both external and internal. The firewall section has been painted in its interior colour, while the front bumper, antenna body mounts, storage boxes and many other parts painted in Dunkelgrau. They are all now in storage awaiting to be assembled back in place.
Taking advantage of a weather opening, with warmer temperatures and the sun out, we finally painted the rear body section in Dunkelgrau. This has now transformed this section of the vehicle, but we still need the engine to be fully restored and in place before we can put this section back.
