The armoured hull for the Sd.Kfz.261 crafted from the many pieces and panels we have gathered over more than 25 years is now complete. The detail of tabs and hangers fitted to the exterior for the fenders are being currently fitted. The tabs for the spade stowage will go on next. The majority of these tabs are original and those few missing examples will be made to exactly the same specifications. The crew cabin interior will be next. We have the detail for this which are ready for the work to be done.
Suspension assembly components are nearly all in hand. We are still waiting for the delivery of the shock absorbers for the vehicle. Our CNC machine centre has been working hard this week crafting the missing shock absorber retainers and spring bases for the Querlenker. The spring bases have some machining to expect to complete the rocker base design. Next week…
Remember this Sd.Kfz.261 vehicle work is a filler while we await a very special delivery of a another very rare vehicle. The team has expressed their desire to work on expected new vehicle as it would represent a complete change of scenery from the German armoured cars they have been responsible for for so many years.
