In the Final Assembly/ Machining Centre the big news of the week was the maiden run of our Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie 3.5 liter Horch V8 engine. This is quite a big deal for us as we had experimented with a number of different head gasket solutions for the engine prior to the very successful final outcome. The road is now clear for us with the next 3 Horch V8 engines.
In the Fabrication Centre the team have started on the wheel station components for the Sd.Kfz.261 5.Serie. The long process of sorting out all of the relevant parts. Sand blasting, red oxide priming and preparation of these components for the top coat has begun. We will need to take two of these parts to the pattern maker to ensure we can get two good and accurate replacements for missing parts. The prop shaft has been addressed for the Sd.Kfz.223 4.Serie.
The team continues to fine tune air filter details for the Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie and Sd.Kfz.223 3 and 4.Serie. These should be complete within the next 2 weeks.
The latest Inside Track article covers the research on the armoured wheel hubs for the 4.Serie versus the 5.Serie and explore the differences within the 5. Serie examples.
