We are now close to the finish line with the rewiring on the Sd.Kfz.222. This will take a few days next week to be complete. What has been done thus far enables us to fit the Sockel (gun pedestal) for the KwK 38 main gun. This is quite a complete task given all of the internal fittings within the Sd.Kfz.222 armoured car. We have removed most of them in preparation for this work.
The slight leak in the fuel line within the Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie was traced back to the tap body itself. This is unfortunate as this appeared to be in very good condition. Another original example has been fitted. All good.
Separately all of the bins (external) for the Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie are now finished. You will recall the intensive surgery that was required to bring a number of these bins back into service. That work is now complete. The Sprengminen cases are now also complete. These are fitted to the rear fenders of the le.Pz.Sp.Wg. armoured cars. We have yet to make a start on the recovery of the Antennenzubehor antenna accessories case which is fitted behind the radio operator in the Sd.Kfz.223. The team needs a break from boxes!
Research continues in preparation for the Pak 43 project. Translations of the period manuals continues. The first of these findings has been released in our journal Inside Track this week.
Have a good weekend!
